Tutors of Colleges of Education threaten to embark on a nationwide strike

The Colleges of Education Teachers Association have threatened to embark on a nationwide strike  due to poor conditions of service.

Disclosing the move in an interview, western and central regions zonal chairman of the association, Mr. Ebenezer Apah Bonney, said the indefinite strike will take full effect on Thursday.

According to Mr. Ebenezer Apah Bonney, several negotiations entered into with government about their conditions of service has been unsuccessful. He said they are denied market premiums unlike tutors and lecturers of other tertiary institutions in the country.

Mr Apah Bonney lamented about how since they were migrated from the Ghana Education Service (GES) payroll, the tutors have had nine months of their salaries in arrears. He added that they are also denied allowances such as  book and research, transport and accommodation.
