Some parents of children at the Don Boscos special school at Loho in the Nadowli-Kaleo district have abandoned their children to their fate.

According to authorities who spoke to A1 News, these parents after dropping off their children who are mostly epileptic, never return to pick them home whenever the school is on vacation.

A tutor at the school, Tieerfar Francis who spoke to A1 News said parents see the school as a dumping ground for their children who have challenges fitting into society.

Headmaster of the Don Bosco Special School, Bayor Sylvester says though the school currently has no problems with government funds as grants come regularly but the attitude of parents is huge problems for them .

He appeals for epileptic drugs to be added to the list of drugs under the National Health Insurance Scheme since according to him most of the children have problems of epilepsy.

Notwithstanding the challenges the children face, authorities are still working to improve the lives of these children.  The school is training the children in soap making, beads making and other vocational skills to help them cater for themselves when they are out of the school.
