Chief of Kazigo in the Kassena-Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Regio, Pe Parekuri Thomas Asangchera Aluah is advocating for the creation of additional constituencies in the Kassena/Nankana area.

The Kassena/Nankana area currently has two constituencies with two districts but Pe Parekuri says the area can only develop fast if more constituencies are carved out of the ones.

“We should therefore agree to petition the president for the Kassena/Nankana area to be divided into four or five constituencies to benefit from the one million dollar per constituency policy and virtually become districts in future”

Pe Parekuri said this during the seventh formal celebration of Womdai-Abu festival near Navrongo.

Womdai-Abu is a festival of thanks-giving to God for a bumper harvest and a show of rich culture and kindness to all by Kassenas.

The chief and people of the Kazigo traditional area hopes to commence construction of a Girls Senior High School as part of measures to exalt the name of late Bishop Lucas Abadamloora.

Program Coordinator of Organization for Indigenous Initiatives and Sustainability (ORGIIS), Julius Awaregya admonished Ghanaian youth to eschew laziness and take a challenge to invest in the natural resources the country is blessed with.

He announced measures to put up a pesticide factory in the area to aid government’s fight against fall armyworm and other pests.

“I am going to build a baobab factory and it is to be one facility in this region and that facility will bring money. I am also going to use Neem tree seeds to produce pesticides for our farmers” Mr. Awaregya stated.
