The throat of a 23-year- old man has been slit in a gruesome murder at Biu, a community in the Kasena/Nankana East Municipality of the Upper East Region.

The deceased, Samuel Yaw Asare, a native of Sefwi in the Western Region who seasonally engaged in a rice buying business with his “Madam”, Lariba Akunwian was found dead in a pool of blood and locked up in his room last Saturday.

According to a police statement,  Asare came to the municipality on the 22nd of November, in the company of a friend called Azumah also a native of Sefwi, to work on his usual, seasonal rice business trip.

The Police statement further said that the Asare and his friend, Azumah lived in the same room given to them by their “madam” who doubles as the landlady of the house while working for her.

Confirming the story to Atinka News, the Kasena/Nankana East Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Ebenezer Benson, the nature of the killing points to ritual murder.

Azumah whose identity is not known has since absconded and currently on police wanted list.

The body of the deceased has also been sent to the War Memorial Hospital in Navrongo, pending autopsy.
