Ashanti Regional Health Directorate declares outbreak of swine flu in Ghana

The Ashanti regional Health Directorate has declared outbreak of swine flu H1N1 in the country after forty students of the school have been affected by the disease and have been admitted at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and the KNUST hospital.

The Health Directorate in a statement said students who had come into contact with the virus were sent to their houses by parents after the disease took the lives thirteen students of the Kumasi Academy.

The statement further said the students when taken home had close contact with other people and therefore transmission may be on course.

The statement called on health worker to be on the lookout for symptoms such as sudden offset of fever, sore throat, general weakness and have had a previous history of close contact with a student of KUMACA.
