A Member of the New Patriotic Party, Gabby Otchere-Darko has criticised organisers of the annual CAF awards that was held in Accra yesterday for the lack of local content in during the awards event.
Although the awards event was held in Ghana, most performances on the night of the event were done by Nigerian act. The Red Carpet for the event was also hosted by a Nigerian Comedian; a move by the organisers which has received several criticisms from social media users and entertainment lovers in Ghana.
In a tweet to register his displeasure about the turn of events and the lack of local content although Ghana was the host, Gabby said “CAF was very disrespectful of Ghana tonight by putting up performances from artistes across the continent, including several from Nigeria, and not a single one from Ghana was good enough to be on stage here in Accra? Shocking and, in fact, embarrassing for CAF”.
He further indicated that “Instead of treating us to some good Ghanaian performances, as well, CAF decided to populate the stage with Naija ones plus others, including a Nigerian artiste who was dressed as if he lost his way to the gym. I hear he is called Wizkid”.
