Former Deputy Information Minister under the John Dramni Mahama administration, Felix Ofosu Kwakye has said the failure of the Sanitation Ministry should not be blamed on the Minister in charge but rather the President of Ghana.

According to him, there was no need creating a Ministry for Sanitation when the sanitation of the country could have been handled by the Local Government Ministry.

The former Minister venting his spleen at the President of the country said “a lot has been said about the abysmal performance of the Sanitation Minister. The real problem is that Ministry’s functional necessity. It was doomed to performing poorly right from the onset.Blame must lie squarely at the doorstep of the President whose affinity for amorphous and superfluous portfolios led to the creation of that Ministry in the first place. Sanitation could easily have been handled by the Local Government Ministry”.

The Sanitation Ministry headed by the Member of Parliament for Navrongo in the Upper East region, Kofi Adda has been criticized by Ghanaians on social media and mainstream media for its abysmal performance since its creation.

Some have called for the Minister to be dismissed because he has done nothing to solve the unending poor sanitary conditions in the country.
