Musician, Ampong has told Bolgatanga-based A1 Radio that the decision by highlife artiste, Daddy Lumba to sue his look-alike who earns nothing for using the name Lumba Junior is borne out of wickedness.
According to Ampong, he has been at several shows with the said Lumba Junior and the singer does not make money out of the name he is using indicating that it’s just a move to just “punish the poor boy”.
Ampong who was speaking to Bolgatanga-based A1 Radio’s Kofi Asante said “but what is the sense In taking this your look-alike who does not even make any money from using the name Lumba Junior? It does not make sense for him to do that. Even he Lumba himself, how many shows does he play in a year that he will say somebody has impersonated him and taken his show? It does not make sense and so you people should not give it prominence because it’s a move by Lumba to get you people talk about him”.
He told a1radio’s Kofi Asante that with his (Daddy Lumba) wickedness and selfishness, he is supposed to be the last person who will take people to court over such frivolous issues.
He indicated that he has almost three people who use the name Ampong Junior and he gladly coaches them with their music and that is what legends do not to stifle the progress of the younger ones.
“I have three people I mentor who use the name Great Ampong but I’ve not sued them. I rather mentor them to become great artistes so that in the years to come, I can also beat my chest and say I trained these artistes to be like me,” he told A1 Radio’s Kofi Asante.
News broke this week that the highlife legend had sued a colleague artiste who looks just like him for impersonating him.
