The Member of Parliament for Binduri, Robbert Baba Kugnablem has said there is nothing better to write home about the current state of Ghana.

The President during the week delivered the State of the Nation address at the floor of Parliament. The President made his direction for the country known and made the country aware of plans the New Patriotic Party has to put the country on a solid footing.

But speaking to A1 Radio on its flagship programme, Daybreak Upper East, the Member of Parliament for Binduri indicated that the President delivered the “state of promises” address rather than “State of the Nation” address.

According to him, the President failed to tell the people of Ghana the current state of the country but rather told Ghanaians about their programmes and policies implemented and about to be implemented.

“What are Ghanaians experiencing in Ghana today and what are the activities been taken to make Ghana better tomorrow.  That is the state of the nation address. But when you come to tell us about programmes you have told us before, programmes that are yet to take off, that is not the state of the nation and everybody knows that. If you are in class one, you would understand that a state of something is the current situation and that is what the President failed to tell us.”

The Member of Parliament indicated that the current state of Ghana is nothing to write home about because it is characterized by ” abject poverty, ill health, unemployment, insecurity and difficulties in all aspect of the country. There is nothing good to write about the state of Ghana”.

The Member of Parliament indicated although government prides itself on clearing some debts owed the NHIS, “there are some hospitals in the Upper East region that have not been paid over eight months”.

He indicated that the health sector in the country is dying because the government has failed to boost the health sector since it took over from the John Dramni Mahama administration.

The Member of Parliament for Binduri indicated that the government does not know what it is about considering the current happenings in the country and added that the country is deteriorating at a fast pace and it’s very sad.
