The Information Minister, Mustapha Hamid has assured farmer in the Northern, Upper East and Upper West region of launching the One Village, One Dam programme in the coming days.
The One Village, One Dam programme was one of the most touted programmes in the manifesto of the Governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the lead up to 2016 elections.
However, although government promised to start digging the dams during the dry season, nothing has yet been done about it.
But speaking to A1 Radio’s Samuel Mbura, the Information Minister indicated that government is set to launch the programme in the Northern Part of the country.
“I spoke to the Minister and he told me old dams will be worked on whiles they construct new ones. But even before anything goes on, in the coming days there will be a ceremony to launch it before any work is done on the dams.”
He indicated that old dams will be worked on while they also dig new dams to support farmers.
