Military officers stationed at Atulbabisi a suburb in the upper east regional capital, Bolgatanga had to abandon their post on Sunday hot afternoon.

The military officers bolted into their patrol vehicle and sped to their base within a twinkle of an eye according to premier eye witness who spoke to A1 News.

This was in response to an information they gathered that a police officer they allegedly assaulted on that hot Sunday afternoon had gathered his colleagues for a reprisal attack.

At the time A1 News arrived at the military base meant for averting any clash between the two chieftaincy gates ,the tent was empty with a ghost environment.

A visit to the Bolgatanga municipal police command heard some irate police officers roaring in anger especially the officer who was beaten to the pulp.

He explained in pain to Samuel Mbura that “I went to town to buy something in their military shorts because I had washed and had nothing to wear… So I was on phone near their base when one of them approached me asked whether I was one of them ,so I told him I was a police officer and he asked me to go home and remove it “

The police officer (name withheld) who was with some bruises and lacerations on his back, waist and feet further indicated that “as I turned my back to go, some of his colleagues pounced on me and started beating me, you can even see how my back, waist and legs have been lacerated …my other colleague with me had to run away ” he narrated

This action by the army on the police officer has angered his colleagues to launch and attack on them.

A1 News gathered that upon the hint that a police officer was visited with beatings on the roadside on the full glare of the public, most police officers massed up to launch a reprisal attack.

But it took the intervention of authorities to avert the possible clash of security Titans in the upper east region.

Calm for now has been restored meanwhile, the military have not returned to their duty point at the time of filing this report …
