Ghana’s Minister for Inner Cities and Zongo Development, Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Saddique has indicated that the Zongo Development fund will be invested in handling issues on four thematic areas which includes infrastructure, sanitation, economy and security.
The Zongo Development fund was one of the New Patriotic Party’s promises during the lead-up to 2016 elections. The fund is expected to help in the development of the various Zongo communities in the country.
An amount of $50 million dollars has been allocated to the fund.
Speaking in an interview, the Minister said “We are charged to get ourselves engaged in four thematic areas of infrastructure, sanitation, economy and social development. We are talking of security and crime control and then we are talking of cultural promotion”.
He added that “We are trying to set up the secretariat, Zongo Development Fund Secretariat; we are to set it up, set up the board, and then the Secretariat will need its office to start work”.
