The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central has indicated that he took the government to the Supreme court not because he is against the various special initiatives of the NPP administration.

According to him, he seeks to get the government to furnish Parliament with regulations telling the country how he intends to implement the various programmes in a just, fair and accountable manner in accordance with the country’s.

“I’m not about to take Government to court, I’ve taken government to court over  the implementation of the various special initiatives  that we approved for them in Parliament. I dont want people to misunderstand me that those initiatives are not good, No! I support the initiatives. All I’m asking for government to do it to furnish us with regulations on how government intends to implement these initiatives in a fair, just and accountable in accordance with the country’s constitution,” he told A1 RAdio.

“The President asked for 236 million cedis to implement the National Industrial Revitalization programme. The programme is to assist companies that the President says may be in distress with money for them to use as a stimulus package. Now when we approved the money the question is how does the President determine the A1 Radio needs this money and A2 Radio does not need the money. That decision to be taken by the President is on discretionary power and the constitution states that anybody who is exercising discretionary power should bring us regulations telling us the criteria by which they will be exercising that power so that they will be fair, unbiased and equitable to every body in the exercise of this power.”

The Legislator indicated that he expects the court to direct the President to send to Parliament regulations on how to implement all his Special Initiatives programmes.

He indicated that without the needed regulation, there will be a repetition of the GYEEDA scandal because the President may be too busy to implement the various initiative himself and will delegate some of his appointees who may not implement the initiatives in a fair, equitable and accountable manner.

“Now six billion will arrive at flagstaff house but Nana Akufo-Addo will be too busy and will be travelling around to Addis Ababa to sign free trade agreement, travelling to Abijan to make Friends with their President after we have taken the oil blocks from them, travelling to Niger to go and sign common currency agreement and once he is travelling, he’s going to call one of his staff like Mustapha Hamid and say Mustapha Hamid implement this nation builders core for me. Then Mustapha Hamid will be dreaming dreams and then by the time we will realize there is a repetition of GYEEDA scandal and we will come and say we are sorry and that there was no regulation and framework for the implementation of the initiatives,” he told A1 Radio’s Samuel Mbura.
