Workers of the Wa Polytechnic will from today embark on a sit-down strike to protest the appointment of the School’s Rector, Prof. Emmanuel Marfo Owusu.

Workers over the weekend boycotted an induction ceremony for the Rector who they accused of financial malfeasance among others.

The Local Chairman of the Wa Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana, Damie Mubashir has insisted the work force of the institution will hit the ground running with their protest to drum home their demands.

“We are the people he[Rector] is tormenting. We think it is not necessary to keep him there. We are therefore calling for his removal. On Monday we will not work, we will come and sit down. On Tuesday, we will not work. Next week we will continue until it becomes a cycle,” he said in an earlier interview with Accra-based Citi FM.

The agitated workers, comprises the Polytechnic Teachers Association, the Polytechnic Administrators Association and the Polytechnic Workers’ Association of the Wa Polytechnic.
