Former President John Dramani Mahama has chastised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of running the affairs of the country in an ad hoc manner.
According to him, the Nana Addo administration is struggling to implement its major campaign promises because they are not backed by policy guidelines.
Mr. Mahama, who chastised President Nana Addo of running down the country, also said whereas his government is struggling to fulfill the many promises he [Nana Addo] made in the run-up to the 2016 general elections, it continues to add on more promises as if running the affairs of a country “is in a manner called government as you go”
“For every programme that is rolled out, there is no policy, there is no guideline and that is the problem – government as you go. You just dream of something, even the promises you made before the elections, you have not yet fulfilled, you are struggling” he observed.
Former President Mahama made these remarks in Bolgatanga, Upper East Regional capital on Saturday May 5, during the 9th edition of the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC’s) ‘Unity Walk’. The Unity Walk is being led by former President Mahama with the hope of restoring unity in the party after the party was thrown into opposition in the 2016 elections.
The unity walk brought together former government appointees, former and present Members of Parliament of the party as well as party leaders and sympathizers who matched 10.2km on the major streets of Bolgatanga under the scotching sun.
Addressing supporters of the NDC who electrified the St. John’s Park otherwise known as Ramsey Park, Mr. Mahama reminded the NPP of the many ‘unfulfilled’ promises it made to Ghanaians in the heat of the 2016 elections which included the 1 million dollar per constituency per year, 1 village 1 dam and 1 district 1 factory.
“Now they say 1 ambulance 1 district, 1 blood 1 drone. At least, take it easy and fulfill the ones that you promised” he advised President Nana Addo.
