The Member of Parliament for Tempane in Upper East Region and Deputy Minister for Justice and Attorney General, Joseph Dindiok Kpemka, last Tuesday donated 1,000 dual-desks to 20 basic schools in the constituency.
Handing over the furniture to the District Education Directorate at Garu for onward distribution to the beneficiary schools, the MP, called on his constituents to support the government to carry out its development agenda as promised by the New Patriotic Party in the run-up to the 2016 elections. “It does not matter what party you belong to, let us all support the government in its effort at bringing development to us.” The legal luminary appealed.
Mr. Kpemka said the furniture supply was financed from his share of the MP’s common fund, and that this first batch was meant for basic schools in 20 communities within the constituency. He said more of the furniture will be supplied through other sources of financing including contributions from friends and benevolent organisations in the near future.
According to him, he is ready to work to improve educational and other infrastructural needs of the constituency to raise the level of academic performance of pupils in the area to the highest level.
He reiterated his commitment to instituting regular quizzes to help prepare pupils for their examinations and a sports jamboree to bring out sporting talents in the pupils. He also promised jerseys and other sporting accoutrements to whip up the interest of pupils in sporting activities the pupils. The District Chief Executive of Garu, Asore Emmanuel Avoka, said the assembly is partnering World Vision International to provide more of the furniture to schools as it is the foremost problem in all the schools in the district. He asked that the culture of proper care and maintenance be the guiding principle of beneficiary schools.
Human resource officer of the district education directorate, Awini Akologo Francis, who received the furniture on behalf of the district director for education thank the MP for the kind gesture and appealed to the MP to help complete a structure meant for the offices of the directorate which has been abandoned for a long time.
