Headmaster for Zebilla Senior High School in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region, Richard Akumbas Ayabilla has revealed that two contractors who were awarded separate contracts in the school have abandoned the contracts.

A visit by A1 NEWS to the school on revealed that works on the two contracts; renovation of a burnt boys’ dormitory and another 2 storey building to serve as a dormitory have stalled.

Although the boys’ dormitory which was razed down by fire in 2014 has been reroofed much still needs to be down before it can accommodate students.

The other project which has been roofed is yet to be furnished and handed over to the school authorities.

The headmaster who spoke exclusively to A1 News said the two contractors when contacted explained that they have not been reimbursed after executing major works on the projects.

“They say they have not been paid. They said the state at which the reached, they have prepared their certificates and they haven’t paid them, so that is why they are not coming back to site”

He said the contract for the renovation of “the burnt dormitory was awarded to one Chambasco from Bolga but the one constructing the 2 storey building is one Alhaji Sofo and Sons Company from Pusiga district”

Mr. Ayabilla stated that the situation has a negative impact on the performance of students as teachers and students are sometimes compelled to carry out teaching and learning under the mercy of the weather.
