The Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) of Zebilla Senior High School (SHS) has made a significant contribution toward improving teaching and learning conditions by donating 200 mono desks to the school. The presentation, which took place on January 27, 2026, at the school’s administration block, drew education stakeholders, traditional authorities, staff, and students.

The ceremony was graced by the District Director of Education, Timothy Nassal; a representative of the District Chief Executive (DCE), the Headmaster of Zebilla SHS, Richard Akumbasi; members of the teaching and non-teaching staff; as well as the student leadership.

Presenting the desks on behalf of the PTA, Chairman Thomas Ayamwego said the gesture was in response to the increasing student population and the need to create a more comfortable and enabling environment for academic work. He noted that inadequate furniture had been a challenge for the school, sometimes forcing students to share desks or sit on broken ones during lessons.

“This donation is our modest contribution to ensure that our children learn in dignity and comfort. When students are comfortable, they are more attentive and motivated to learn,” Mr. Ayamwego stated. He urged parents and other stakeholders to continue supporting the school in various ways to enhance academic performance and discipline.

Receiving the desks on behalf of the Ghana Education Service, District Director of Education Mr. Timothy Nassal expressed profound appreciation to the PTA for what he described as a timely and impactful intervention. He said furniture availability is a key factor in creating a conducive learning atmosphere and pledged that the education directorate would ensure the desks are put to good use and properly maintained.

Headmaster of Zebilla SHS, Mr. Richard Akumbas, also expressed joy over the donation, noting that it would significantly improve student comfort in classrooms. According to him, the shortage of desks had been one of the school’s pressing challenges.

“This support will go a long way to improve teaching and learning. We are grateful to the PTA for standing with us. We, however, appeal for continued assistance in other areas such as infrastructure, staff accommodation, and learning resources,” Mr. Akumbas added.

Representing the District Chief Executive, Mr. Abass commended the PTA for complementing government efforts in education delivery. He assured the school community that the district assembly remains committed to supporting Zebilla SHS to achieve its academic and developmental goals.

The donation was met with excitement from students, who described the new desks as a major relief and a boost to their learning experience.
