On Tuesday, October 2, the Emirates’ iconic A380 Aircraft landed at Ghana’s Kotoka International Airport as part of activities to mark the opening of the newly built Terminal 3 at the Airport.

Emirates, which started operations to Ghana in 2004, partnered with the authorities of the Kotoka International Airport to test the operations of the new terminal and its readiness to accommodate bigger Aircrafts as such the Emirates’ double-decker A380.

The Tuesday landing by the A380 Aircraft was a one-off trip from Dubai and back to Dubai, after 6 hours of being on the ground.

The event at Ghana’s Premier Airport, had different meanings to different groups of people. For the Traveling public, it was an exciting time, for the players in Aviation, it was a milestone in Ghana’s Aviation Sector and for the Politicians and their Social Commentators, it was time to argue over who built the terminal 3 and who commissioned it. To the Old Students of Koforidua Secondary-Technical School, the Emirates’ iconic double-decker A380 Aircraft landed in Ghana for the first time with their Icon, Barima-Ba Captain Solomon Quainoo.

Barima-ba Captain Solomon Quainoo flew the A380 Aircraft and landed safely to the admiration of his formal class and school mates, as well as other Ghanaians who equally were proud of the achievement of a fellow Ghanaian.
Barima-Ba Quainoo has spent over 7 years of his 14 year career experience with the Emirates and has been an inspiration to many Ghanaians who have come in contact with him over these years. He attended Koforidua Secondary Technical School in the Eastern Region of Ghana and the University of Ghana in the Greater Accra Region.

On Tuesday, October 2, an imposing number of Old Students of Koforidua Sec-Tech in their usual “Abusua Kesie” Yellow and Black Traditional colours gathered the Kotoka International Airport to meet Barima-ba Captain Solomon Quainoo back home.

It was a solemn time and yet exciting, as Old Students of various year groups united again to celebrate the achievement of a family member and to send a signal to the world that Sec-Tech is good and that the current students there, are at the right place.

Barima-ba Captain Solomon Quainoo is expected to visit his former School, Koforidua Sec-Tech, with the Emirates as well as the National leadership and other Old Students ( Mmarima-Mba), on October 3, 2018.

His visit is very likely to expose the many challenges facing the school to him and the Team from the Emirates and also encourage all Old Students to be committed to their contributions towards the school’s development.
