The Ghana Police Service in the Upper East Region has been called upon to intensify its criminal clampdown strategy on the Bolgatanga -Tamale Highway.
The appeal follows 3 incidence of robbery at Karimenga a community along the Bolgatanga-Tamale Highway in a space of a week.

Reports have it that, the recent robbery incident saw Police team arriving at the scene after the robbery operation, which travelers lamented over, referring to the Police intervention as late, because it had not impact on the situation.

Communications Member of National Democratic Congress, John Paul Danka who made the call on the Daybreak Upper East Programme on Bolgatanga based A1 Radio, the collaboration between the Police Patrol teams from the Upper East region and Northern region is not effective as expected from the two.

According to Mr. Danka, the situation if not carefully tackled, would continue to expose travelers to greater risks.

“Last two weeks, before you descend Kariminga hill, a robbery incident happened there, three times within a space of 2 hours. The last Police barrier before you meet the Pwalungu bridge, those Walewale Police guys who were there, were there and were listening to the cry of those that were robbed. And at, a point in time, what happened was that, someone had to call for help across region.

When they got there, what the Police Officer in charge of that barrier told them was that, his children were small and so they could not go to help the victims. But when the Police from the Upper East Region came and scared the robbers away, and brought the entries, the Walewale Police took the entry form to go and file.” John Paul Danka narrated.

The route requires frequent Patrolling day and night to ward off criminals that take advantage of the absence of settlements along the Highway.
