The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has announced that, Ghana Passport application forms are now free and from Friday, November 2, people seeking to acquire Ghana Passport, will have to download a PDF format of the Application Form from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration’s website.

A statement issued by the Ministry on November 1, said payment of the processing fees ( being GHc50 for regular and GHc100 for express services) will no longer be done at the Bank, but through Mobile Money and Visa or MasterCard options.

The Ministry explained that, the new system of application does not replace the already existing online Passport Application System at the Accra Passport Application Centres.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration however has hinted that, it is assisting the Passport Office to adopt a number of steps including improvements in procurement, which are expected to help address the issue of shortage of booklets at the Passport Office.

According to the Ministry, a large number of Passports have been completed and yet applicants have not picked them up, leaving them at the Passport Office for months, with some running into years.

Effective Monday November 5, 2018, all Passport applicants who applied before September 15, 2018 and have not collected their passports can visit www.mfa.gov.gh to check the list of uncollected passports and to make plans to claim them from the various Passport application centres across the country.

The Ministry has advised Ghanaians to only apply for Passport when they have need for it and should not rush for the Passport when they do not have a need for it, saying, this will reduce the pressure at the Passport Office and also ease the process of passport acquisition in the country.
