SFD Foundation sensitizes JHS pupils towards BECE

Shalom Faith Development Foundation (SFD Foundation) is a non-governmental organization based in the Northern Region has organized a capacity building programme for over 1,000 pupils of various Junior High Schools in the Bolgatanga Municipality.

The programme aimed at inspiring the students to walk over challenges that might be confronting them either at home or school, and also how to prepare themselves towards the Basic Education Certificate Examination with confidence.

Shalom Faith Development Foundation (SFD Foundation) has the vision of creating friendly society for young people, especially the girl child to develop.

Speaking exclusively with A1Radio in Bolgatanga, the Chief Executive Officer of SFD Foundation, Madam Selina Aboyineba said the main focus of SFD Foundation is to support young people especially the girl child to identify and manage her internal and emotional conflicts as she prepared to write her BECE.

“We help them to reduce the challenges they are going through or have under gone by sharing with them similar stories that others have gone through in life and have overcome. Such experience helps them to resist any negatives pressure and boosts their confidence levels to become assertive in contributing positively in their education and the communities they find themselves.” She said.

The programme which brought together top public and private officials, including the Upper East Regional Minister to share their experience with the students.

The Upper East Regional Minister, Paulina Abayage shared with the students her past experience while she grew up a young lady in school.

“… at a point I had to stop schooling and take care of my unplanned baby I had on the way and despite that, I persevered and worked hard to achieve my goals. If I had given up, I wouldn’t be today in my capacity as a Regional Minister.” She said.

The Regional Minister however encouraged the students not to give up despite the challenges that life will throw at them, saying she is a living testimony for young female students to emulate.
