The Upper East Regional Football Association (UERFA) is set to introduce a new football competition dubbed the Regional Cup for Division Two and Division Three clubs in the region.
The competition, expected to kick off in November 2026, forms part of the Association’s efforts to provide clubs with additional opportunities to compete beyond their regular league fixtures.
According to the UERFA, the tournament will be open to all affiliated Division Two and Division Three clubs and is intended to keep players active, identify emerging football talents and promote healthy competition among clubs across the region.
The Vice-Chairman of the UERFA, Nelson Jose Abagna, disclosed that the competition was introduced to clubs during the Association’s Congress last season.
He explained that the tournament would begin with a knockout stage, with Division Three clubs competing in the preliminary round before progressing to subsequent stages of the competition.
Mr Abagna added that the eventual winner would receive a trophy and automatically qualify for the following season’s MTN FA Cup.
The Regional Cup will provide another competitive platform for clubs in the Upper East Region, complementing the existing Division Two and Division Three leagues.
