The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has commenced a free dry-season tractor ploughing programme to support farmers in the constituency ahead of the dry-season farming period.
The initiative is intended to reduce farmers’ production costs, facilitate timely land preparation and improve agricultural productivity.
According to a statement issued by the Bolgatanga Central Constituency Communication Officer, Aboyom Job, the programme has already started in the Yikene, Kulbia and Amogrebisi electoral areas, where farmers are benefiting from free tractor ploughing services.
The statement said four tractors had been deployed to ensure wider coverage and timely land preparation across the constituency. The tractors are expected to continue operations in the remaining electoral areas as the programme progresses.
The statement added that the intervention forms part of Mr Adongo’s broader efforts to support agriculture, increase food production and improve the livelihoods of farmers in Bolgatanga Central.
The statement is therefore encouraging farmers in electoral areas yet to benefit to prepare their lands and liaise with the relevant programme coordinators to facilitate the smooth implementation of the exercise.
