Upper East Regional Minister, Paulina Patience Abayage has donated 200 dual desks to the regional office of the Ghana Education Service (GES) for onward distribution to selected schools in the region. The gesture forms part of activities to celebrate her 55thbirthday.
Presenting the furniture to GES in Bolgatanga, Ms Abayage indicated that the long standing gesture which is always supported by her friends during her birth month is to give back to society for what God has done in her life.
“When I became the Regional Minister, one of the biggest challenges that confronted me is the lack of furniture in our schools. I remember, ‘Narrative Changers’ will bombard me, tag me with all manner of pictures of children sitting on the ground. So, I have decided to solicit for help to donate some furniture. I asked around and got friends who have given me 200 dull desks to give to the region. I’m hopeful that we will look for schools that really need them”, she said.
She expressed optimism that the furniture will in a long run improve education in the region.
Flanked by some district and municipal directors of education, Upper East Regional Deputy Director in Charge of Planning at GES, Abdul-Razak Koran, wished the minister well on her birthday and years to come.
While thanking her for the support, Mr. Korah said the furniture will improve teaching and learning in the region.
“Your presentation is indeed, has come at the right time. At a right time in two folds. It is going to improve teaching and learning. We want to say thank you on behalf of the regional directorate for the gesture as you celebrate your 55th birthday”, Mr. Korah said.
