Government’s Flagship Program “One Village, One Dam” is progressing sturdily in the beneficiary communities in the Builsa South District of the Upper East Region.

For now, a total of 10 communities in the Builsa South District are benefiting from the first round of selection of communities to have small dams under the programme. The small dams are meant to encourage dry season farming and for domestic animals to drink.

The District Chief Executive for the Builsa South, Daniel Kwame Gariba has visited some of the dam sites in the district including those at Gbedema-Goluk, Kanjarga-Logvorsa and Naadema, most of which are between 40 and 80 percent completed.

Hon. Gariba assured that he will not relent in his efforts at ensuring that the programme succeeds in the district, not just in the interest the government, but the people in the beneficiary communities, who are anxious to see the completion of the dams.

The District Chief Executives warned that the assembly would not accept nor approve the payment any project that is shoddily done by a contractor, hence the need for all contractors to ensure that they go by the specifications approved for each of the dams.

Community members in areas the District Chief Executive visited were happy for his concern and commitment to ensure that the contractors execute quality work for their communities.

The communities promised to support and cooperate with the contractors to enable them hasten their work before the rains start.
