A Communication Team member of the New Patriotic Party in the Upper East Region, Kamal-deen Seidu Gazirey has called on the Ghana Education Service to be serious and stop all tribal groupings in Secondary Schools across Ghana.

There had been earlier calls for same to the done, years ago, but the Ghana Education Service did very little to stop this.

According to Mr. Seidu there are indications that these tribal groupings are subtly becoming a “time bomb” which could explode if not stopped now.

He was sharing is view on a citifmonline story which suggests that a clash between Talen and Gurune speaking students led to the misunderstanding that resulted in the closure of the Kongo Senior High School in the Nabdam District in the Upper East Region.

Even though others have called for the dissolution of religious groupings too, Mr. Seidu is however of the view that, religious groupings should be allowed because they teach the students moral lessons which are good for the development of the students.

The Headmistress of the school, Gifty Ayamba is reported to have confirmed that indeed the clash was based on a tribal tension.

The School has been closed after an emergency District Security Committee meeting over the issue.
