The Builsa South District in the Upper East Region has organized its first time ever Sanitation Marketing Expo to showcase business potentials in the sanitation area.

The purpose was to bring to light some of the opportunities available and underutilized in that sector to the  Community Technical Volunteers trained by the Assembly with support from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and  the Business community on the essence of marketing and patronizing  materials that will be required by households to address sanitation challenges. The objective is also to end the menace of open Defecation (OD) in the District.

Issues of Sanitation have been one of the priorities of the District Chief Executive for Builsa South, Hon. Daniel Kwame Gariba hence, he has paid attention and made strenuous efforts to ensure that his district’s sanitation and its related challenges are resolved and addressed appropriately.

Mr. Gariba in an interview with A1 News said ‘’our goal is to end OD in the District by 2021. Out of 118 Communities in the District, 61 are Open Defecation Free representing 51.6%. We are poised to scaling the remaining ones to ODF status by 2021. Our biggest gratitude goes to UNICEF for helping us fight this menace’’

The DCE for Builsa South , Daniel Kwame Gariba   is one of the hardworking appointees of the Akufo Addo led administration  in the Upper East Region who has been able to lobby developmental projects ranging from roads , infrastructure ,Health Care and a host of intervention initiatives to empower the underprivileged especially women groups in Builsa South.
