Akufo-Addo gets a Chieftaincy tittle

The Chiefs and people of the Builsa South District of Upper East Region have conferred on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo a chieftaincy tittle. The tittle, ANIWOBA NAAB, meaning chief of the poor and vulnerable was conferred on the President of the Republic of Ghana at a colorful durbar of chiefs and people of the Builsa South District.

Paramount Chief of Fumbisi, Naab Clement Anyaturk Akanko in a speech read on his behalf said the conferment was necessary considering the unprecedented pro poor policies and projects the district has benefited from the Nana-Addo led government.

“Mr. President, considering the fact that most of your policies are geared towards helping the poor in society, that is Free SHS, Planting for Food and Jobs among others, we the Chiefs and people of Builsa South wish to give you the skin name, ANIWOBA NAAB, meaning, Chief of the poor and vulnerable”.

This conferment was done at Fumbisi when Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo attended a durbar of chiefs and people of the Builsa South District during a second day of his working visit to the Upper East Region.

Naab Akanko on behalf of people of the area declared their unflinching support for the president and the government towards achieving a rapid development in the district.

“We are aware of your commitment in achieving total rural development to make life comfortable for our people. It is important to state that, the Chiefs and people of this district wishes to declare their total support and co-operation to your government for the rapid development of the district and the nation at large. We have the confidence in you and trust that you would pay special attention to the district to enable us catch up with other districts in the region”, Paramount Chief of Fumbisi declared.

While thanking the president for fulfilling a promise of establishing an Agric Mechanization Center in the district, the Chief appealed for the creation of an Agric College in the district.

“The creation of Agric College to a large extend will train students to advance the fields of Agriculture in the district and the region as well”.

His Excellency the president who has never visited Fumbisi, thanked the Chiefs and people of the area for the recognition given his government. He called for co-operation from them towards executing the mandate enshrine on him by Ghanaians.

On the establishment of Agric College in the Builsa South District, Nana Addo-Dankwa gave an assurance saying, “there can be no better place to have an Agricultural College than this area that has the potential to be the rice basket not just of Ghana but West Africa. And I want to assure you that, I am going to do everything within my power, that the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Agriculture to make sure that an Agricultural College is develop here in Fumbisi for your people”.

The President during his visit to the district inspected ongoing works at the Doninga Bridge and the rice valleys under government’s flagship program ‘Planting for Food and Jobs’ Gbedembisi.
