NDC Supporters picket at EC’s Office on a productive working day

Supporters of the largest opposition party in Ghana, National Democratic Congress,NDC in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency is picketing at the premises of the Electoral Commission of Ghana as part of strategies to reject the compilation of a new voters’ register as proposed by the EC.

Similar demonstrations have taken place across the country by the NDC and some other disgruntled parties. In a communication notice said to be coming from the NDC in circulation , the NDC Members have been urged to turnout in their numbers despite the fact that the demonstration is coinciding with peak productive hours where some of the demonstrators in the public sector are likely to skip work. Below is the notice of communication to the supporters cited by A1 News.

Excerpts of the communications reads “The Bolgatanga Central Constituency of the NDC wishes to officially remind members of our great NDC party in Bolga Central Constituency that, the party and all persons and groups in opposition to the compilation of the new voters register by the electoral commission shall be picketing at the Upper East Regional office of the electoral commission located near Catherine Rest house, tomorrow, 22nd January, 2020 in protest”

“We shall coverge at the cultural centre (Craft Village) at 8:00Am tomorrow before we move to the regional office of the electoral commission to express our concerns. All members of our great NDC party should do well to be part of this worthy course and be punctual with the time”

” We should avoid coming to this picketing grounds in party colours. Please, inform a friend to inform another friend to attend”

Meanwhile,checks by A1 News revealed that the Ghana Police Service has been notified and clearance given for the demonstration.
