Upper East Regional Minister Hon.Tangoba Abayage who has finally broken silence on rumors about her interest in the Navrongo Central seat has commended the people of the Constituency for their hospitality and togetherness.
The Minister confirmed her candidature to the Media during a press encounter in response to a question posed to her on the flying rumors about her interest in that seat which is currently occupied by Minister for Aviation ,Hon. Kofi Adda.
Hon. Tangoba announced that she has picked nominations forms to file for the contest but would not delve into detailed reasons behind her interest in the seat.
In response to another question on an alleged ‘Media Cabal” working for her interest in the region , Madam Tangoba said she was not aware of such a grouping adding that,that the media may be reporting positively about her because they have seen the good things she was doing for the region.
“I’ve heard a lot of stories about the media cabal, I love to work with people and I love to work with the media… I’m sure the media has seen the good works I’m doing as a regional minister and they will just like to report on that …once in a while ,they have been critical of me, one thing I do is that I will always want to engage them when I see them a bit critical , because sometimes I may not have understood them or they may not have understood me or we may not have got the stories right. So, I engage them a lot ,so may be if they are reporting on me and it sounds so positive it is because that is the news they have. And I’m sure that if they get anything negative reports they will report. It just means that I might be doing something right in the region and I should be happy about that.. I don’t know any media cabal … I’m told there is a Benz something, I don’t know where that is coming from” she explained
The Former Ambassador to Italy also indicated that reports about she not being popular in Navrongo and that she only goes there to drink ‘Beer” were not true.She however noted that the Constituency has been receptive and sociable a reason the people are living peacefully in unity.
“I don’t know what is special about Navrongo Beer but I know what is special about Navrongo and what is special about Navrongo is the togetherness, the socialization, the commandeering.. most of Navrongo people are living in the diaspora so once in a while when we get back to Navrongo we like to socialize “ she observed
