We are happy recipients of the Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam project but give priority to local content- Hon. Tangoba

Upper East Regional Minister,Tangoba Abayage has reiterated the readiness and commitment of the Regional Coordinating Council to ensure the successful execution of the Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam.

She opines that the project will play a significant role in the area of aquaculture, hydropower, agriculture and a host of economic and social benefits when completed.

According to her , this will contribute largely to the wellbeing of residents in the region since it will create and employment and self empowerment avenues.

Addressing a meeting of stakeholders and officials of China Power , Contractors of the Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam in Bolgatanga,Madam Tangoba indicated how she and her team at the regional coordinating council were ready to lend their support for the project to proceed with the needed speed in order to meet the timelines.

“As a region,we are happy recipients of this project and I can assure everybody on this team and yet to join the team that the regional coordinating council on standby to give any support at that is needed for this project to go on and proceed with the speed with which you’ve targeted” She said.

She has however advised the contractors to observe all necessary protocols involved to avoid challenges that will stampede the the progress of the project.

The Minister also advocated for a major percentage of local content in terms of human resource and urged the Chinese to abide by the precautionary health measures and institute same for workers at site to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Madam Tangoba has also appealed to residents in the affected areas for the construction of the Dam to cooperate and follow the right channels to raise their legitimate concerns if there will be any.
