As part of measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic,Zoomlion Ghana together with the Ghana Police Service has launched an exercise to fumigate and disinfect all police facilities in the Upper East Region.

According to Upper East Manager of Zoomlion,John Sackey said, the fumigation and disinfection exercise of the police facilities was an extension of what happened Greater Accra Region after the leadership of the Ghana Police Service engaged Zoomlion Ghana to undertake the exercise across the country.

“The program started in Accra and as at today, we are officially launching the Upper East version. We are going to take the activities in all the service’s facilities, this include the training school, the police clinic, the offices and then the barracks”.
Mr. Sackey appealed to the public to adhere to all the covid-19 protocols to control the spread of the virus.

“This disease has afflicted the entire world, and institutions include government, NGOs and private institutions are all contributing towards the minimization of the spread of the disease. And therefore, as we kick start the activities and we are doing this, my appeal to the general public is that the disease is real. And if you look at the developed countries, the mortality rate is very high and we shouldn’t say that because we don’t see the high mortality rate in our country now, therefore the disease is no longer effective, he said.

The Upper East Regional Police Commander, DCOP. Osei Kwaku Ampofo-Duku expressed gratitude to the police administration and Zoomlion Ghana for implementing the exercise.

“I want to add by saying that, we thank the police administration for making this exercise a possibility. And the Zoomlion regional manager, he has been with us throughout this Covid-19 pandemic period. They have been here to disinfect our clinic immediately after the mass testing exercise. They have also been to the police training school and they are here again. It’s my prayer that the lord will be with them to do this safely without any problem”, He added.

DCOP Ampofo-Duku therefore appealed to all police officers in the region to cooperate with the team on the ground in order for them to carry out the activity successfully.
