While a sect of the Ghanaian populace is rejoicing with optimism about the recent surge in recovery figures of Coronavirus in the country, such actions have been described as “stupid”.

Ghana currently has over 6,000 confirmed cases with over 2,000 recoveries and 32 deaths.

But Member of Parliament for Tamale Central under the ticket of the National Democratic Congress(NDC),Inusah Fuseini who made this pronouncement on A1 Radio indicated that,Ghanaians should rather be concerned about the rate of infections recorded on daily basis not recoveries.

According to him,it has never been the prayer of anyone for people to get infected with the virus and recover,so he finds it ridiculous that there are jubilations about a marginal increase in the recoveries.

Inusah Fuseini who is also a Member of John Mahama’s campaign team added that government should rather place priority in prevention of Coronavirus than cure.

“Why will I be elated about recovery figures ,no one had hope that those who will contract the Covid19 will die, no one has ever prayed for people to die  everybody pray for people to recover .excerpt that we are praying  that people should not get infected not that they get infected and recover. It will be stupidity to rejoice on recoveries .prevention is always better than cure, and so what we are saying is that ,we should watch it  so far as people are getting Coronavirus,it means that there are certain things that we are not doing right.and we cannot celebrate  recoveries ,we must be concerned about the rate of infections ,that is what we should be concerned about” He said..

The Tamale Central MP has however lashed out at government for politicizing the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Communications Director for the NPP in Upper East Region, Sanusi Issah said he was not surprised about negative comments coming from the NDC about government’s proper management of the outbreak of the virus because they have never meant well for the country.

He therefore appealed to Ghanaians to be resolute and optimistic as government contains the situation on the ground.
