I’m happy the political dynamics are changing in UER-NPP Parliamentary Aspirant

Parliamentary aspirant in the upcoming primaries of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) in Zebila Constituency of Upper East Region, Dr. John Kingsley Krugu says, the status quo of political loyalty in the region has hit a snack.

According to him, the long held loyalty and political allegiance to some political parties have taken a different dimensions because of the change in dynamics.

He said, voters have now come to realize that their political loyalty has not paid enough and are therefore yearning for change.

The once upon a time Deputy National Organizer and Regional Communications Director of the NPP questioned why the Upper East Region has suffered developmental setbacks despite being a stronghold of the NDC which has ruled and governed the country for the past 25years.

Dr. Krugu who is one of the brains from the Upper East Region behind the formation of the Youth Wing of NPP at tertiary institutions(TESCON) has however, noted that his engagements with the younger generations have given him hope that the traditional thinking of political allegiance will be a thing of the past in the region.

“The dynamics are changing and I’m very happy it is changing because this idea that we are traditionally NDC is changing ,I see that with the debate I engage with  young people on Facebook,I see that in the debate I engage with young people on WhatsApp platforms and then see that when I go around to talk to people and to young people. the good news is that ,the younger generations are looking for politics that can bring development and that improves their lives”. He observed.

He added that “And They are  not just simply looking for labels to wear ,put a badge on your chest and say I’m NDC and I’m NPP without some  meaning to that . What does it mean to say you are NDC and NPP. The younger  generations are asking those questions. And I think some of the people who think that oh Zebilla is traditionally NDC and therefore it is going to remain NDC, they need to come along with the flow of thoughts and the changing dynamics and the younger generations who are beginning to ask questions. I went around and I’ve met people who said our family have been traditionally NDC but we don’t know what that even means.

Meanwhile, he has called on delegates in the Zebila Constituency consider giving him the note in the primaries to lead the party because,he has the capacity to retain the seat for the party in the general elections without politics of vilification and violence.

Dr. John Kingsley Kurug was speaking in an exclusive interview with Samuel Mbura on Daybreak Upper East on A1 Radio.

The Zebila seat is currently occupied by the NPP with Frank Fuseini Adongo for the first time in the political history of Ghana after the NDC MP, Cletus Avoka lost his bit in 2016.

He has however staged a come back in the 2020 general elections.

I personally think Dr is the only candidate who has the youth at heart concerning their education and concerned about the development of the district and will listen to the views and grievances of the people in the district and even the whole kusaug at large.
