Roads Minister gives contractor ultimatum to speed up work

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr. Kwesi Amoako Attah has given one month grace period to contractor working on the Bolgantanga,Bawku- Plumako road in the Upper East Region to fasten works to the Bolgatanga Municipal township.

The contractor,Quiero Galvao MI has scarified the road from Bolgantanga East-District to omen of the major bridges linking the regional capital and work is progressing however, the stretch of road which links the two towns is characterized by potholes posing threat to residents and commuters.

Mr. Attah who described the situation as dangerous to pedestrians said,it was proper for roads within the Regional capital to be well tarred devoid of potholes.

“Urban Roads director, the Bolga area; stretching to the market where the filling stations are; within two weeks to one month make sure you do the overlays of the road, work on the potholes. This road can not be like this, it passes through the Regional capital and should be favorable for pedestrians to use”.he said.

The minister made the comment when he paid a working visit to the Upper East Region to asses the level of works done on some major roads.

Touching on whether some of the major roads constructed within the region will be completed per the time frame, the minister explained that resources were provided for contractors hence, completions of such roads should be a done deal.

“Resources are available for contractors so we are certain that they will complete works at the given time. Especially, the Bolgatanga-Bawku-Pulmakom road will be completed.” He indicated.

The minister, however, assured residents and commuters within the regional capital to be patient while that particular stretch of road will soon be worked on.
