The samples are those taken through contacting tracing of confirmed cases of COVID-19 recorded in the region.

The total case count currently stands at 241 following additional figures confirmed yesterday.

According to sources, the 113 confirmed new cases confirmed yesterday which have shot the case counts to 241 are again from police recruits at Pwalugu Police Training School.

The Upper East Regional health authorities declared some weeks past at the time the case count was 26 with 2 deaths that, the remaining patients had recovered and the isolation center shutdown pending results some other suspected cases.

Fast forward into a week later, 16 confirmed cases were recorded again pushing the total figure to 42 which subsequently shot up to 128 coming from the backlog of suspected cases taken from the Police Training School in Pwalugu.

It has again been revealed by our sources that the additional 113 cases from yesterday are from the police recruits called back for training at Pwalugu after the school was closed temporarily and recruits asked to go home.
