Player Sabotage Cost Hearts of Oak the League Title In 2003 – Herbert Addo

The Coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Herbert Addo has revealed that the team(Accra Hearts of Oak) was sabotaged by the senior players in 2003 and that cost them any silverware in that season although the team went unbeaten.

Herbert Addo made this revelation in an interview on Metro TV’s Sports File Show on Wednesday.

The vertran coach who handled Accra Hearts of Oak for the 2002/2003 league season underscored sabotage by the “senior” players as the reason for not retaining the league title although the team went unbeaten.

The coach lamented that, Accra Heats of Oak was bedeviled with various management-player conflicts over monies and other entitlements management owed them hence making his work as a coach difficult during the 2003 league season because players were reluctant to give their all to the team.

The coach who lost only two games out of sixty two games in his last stint with Accra Hearts of Oak before leaving in 2003 disclosed that, it took the prowess of “young” players including Louis Agyemang, Prince Tagoe and others to help the team in that league season saying “the young players at my disposal made the magic,our mentality then was not to loose, so instead of loosing we drew and won all matches we had to win.”

Herbert Addo has joined Accra Heart of Oak as head coach from Inter Allies where he saved the team from relegation and was a match away from silverware.
