PPP confirms Parliamentary Candidate for Bongo Constituency

The Progressive People’s Party(PPP) has unanimously confirmed the Constituency Chairman of the party,George A-engbinge Afari as the Parliamentary Candidate for the 2020 general elections

George A-engbinge Afari is a banker by profession and football administrator. He is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Prestigious Zorkor United Sporting Club, a Division Three Club based in Zorkor in the Bongo District.

Regional Vice Chairman of the PPP Samson Laar at the confirmation grounds said “At the close of nominations, Hon. Afari was the only candidate who submitted his nomination form hence, the need for popular acclamation by the delegates.”

The delegates unanimously confirmed the astute banker and outstanding football administrator as their candidate for the 2020 general election.

Addressing the supporters after his confirmation, Mr.Afari expressed appreciation to his supporters and urged them to remain determined of victory in the upcoming elections.

“I perfectly know that, our pursuit for the Parliamentary seat of Bongo is a big dream with great obstacles but, I am passionate about it. Nothing good comes easy but with resilience, determination and faith in God, I believe we will emerge victorious in this election”.Bongo deserves better and It is our collective responsibility to contribute towards a complete transformation of Bongo in the areas of; access to potable water, good road network, improved education, employment, youth talent development health, sports, agric etc. We therefore need a proactive minded leader ( Hon. Afari) to spearhead and facilitate the needed development we require in Bongo”. He stated.

He emphasised the need for tolerance and peaceful campaign in order to prevent chaos in the constituency .

“I emphasise the need to maintain a decent campaign free of insults and attacks on other contestants or their supporters, for we are peace loving people”.

In the 2016 general elections ,George A-engbinge Afari representing the PPP for the first time ,pulled 12,932 votes as against 18, 542 for NDC, 6,800 for NPP and 259 votes for CPP candidates.

This 2020 Parliamentary election is anticipated to be tough because of the vibrancy of the candidates contesting from the both NDC,NPP and the PPP.
