The Interior Ministry has imposed a curfew in the Doba and Kandiga communities in the Kassena-Nankana Municipal and the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region.
The Minister of the Interior, Ambrose Dery imposed the curfew on the two communities following an advice by the Upper East Regional Security Council after a recent clashes on last Saturday July 4, 2020 over a disputed parcel of land claimed six lives and injured four others.
In a statement issued by the sector minister, Ambrose Dery, any person or group of persons from the affected communities caught carrying arms, ammunition and offensive weapons will be arrested and prosecuted.
The curfew takes immediate effect from Monday July 6, 2020 starts from 6:00pm to 6:00am daily until otherwise reviewed.
Mr. Dery also appealed to leadership of the affected communities to exercise restraint and resort to non-violent means to ensure peace in the area.
