Liverpool Legend, John Barnes, has called on Ghanaians to throw their weight behind their local teams because that is the only recipe for the growth of the game in the country.
Speaking on the Diva’s show on TV3, the former footballer and coach said, the Ghana league will be attractive if the local fans support the local teams as they support other European leagues.
“The Ghana league can only be made attractive like that of the European leagues if only the local fans throw their weight behind the local teams as it is done in all the European leagues.”
He said “you do not expect your league to grow if you relegate it for the league of other countries.”
He cited the English Premier league as an example Ghanaians should follow with how the fans of various teams die hard for their various clubs and called on Ghanaians football enthusiasts to follow suite to make the local league attractive.
