The parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Nabdam Constituency, Boniface Gambila, has expressed confidence of winning the 2020 general election.

Mr. Gambila lost the Nabdam seat to the incumbent MP, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane of the National Democratic Congress who first joined the parliamentary race in the 2016 elections.

But at a ceremony to launch a constituency campaign team, the onetime MP who is eying the seat again, expressed optimism that the “massive developmental projects and policies” implemented by the Akufo-Addo led administration which have brought transformation to the people of the Nabdam district give him hope of winning the December polls.

He said, “For Nabdam, we are going to campaign based on the developmental projects government has brought to us, and the change in the people. We will show them the changes we brought to their lives. Because businesses flourish, even within the Covid-19, things are still manageable. The government has pushed in money to support people affected by Covid-19. Women’s groups and other smallholder business owners have been supported. Some have taken bulk of money already to run their businesses and more is still flowing”.

The former Upper East regional minister touted some infrastructural projects and job created by the NPP government which he would campaign to unseat Dr. Nawaane.

Speaking to the media at Kongo, Mr Gambila said, “When you come to Nabdam, roads are being done, schools have been built. In Nabdam, people have been given employment. If you go to the assembly and check, over 300 young men and women are working in the afforestation program and each of them is being paid Ghc 400 a month. They have been doing this at least for the past two years. Calculate how much money has gone into each home”,

A delegation from the Upper East Regional executive of the NPP who graced the ceremony, sworn in 39 campaign team members to spearhead activities of the party in the Nabdam constituency to ensure the president is reelected while winning the parliamentary seat for the party.

The campaign team includes the parliamentary candidate, the District Chief Executive, Agnes Anamoo, the constituency executives, electoral area coordinators and other leading members of the party.

The Nabdam DCE, Agnes Anamoo who said the district has gotten its share of the national cake, thanked President Akufo-Addo for the positive change the government has made in the lives of the people of district.

Madam Anamoo said she has started a vigorous campaign for the party prior to the launch of the campaign team so that the “good message of the governing New Patriotic Party gets to the grass roots.
