The Electoral Commission (EC) has banned the use of mobile phones in polling booths by individuals who show up to vote.

Persons who flout this directive will have their mobile phones confiscated by officials of the Commission.

To this end, the EC has advised the youth who are mostly used by politicians to perpetuate electoral offenses to desist from the practice or face the full rigors of the law.

Director of Electoral Services at the Commission Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, explained that the move is to prevent the situation where people take pictures and videos of their thumb printed ballot paper after voting and circulate to persons they might have taken money from with a promise to vote for their party.

He made the comments in Accra at a dialogue organized by the EC and the Youth Bridge Foundation to educate them on Electoral Violence ahead of the 2020 General election.
