Upper East Lands Commission Organizes Land Administration Workshop

Land administration in Ghana over the years has faced many problems. Insecurity of land tenure, difficult accessibility to land as well lack of consultation with landowners and chiefs have often hindered the effective administration of lands in Ghana.

In order to address these problems, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, introduced the Land Administration Project (LAP) to address these problems. The introduction of LAP 1 led to the establishment of 4 costumary land secretariats in Bolgatanga, Bongo, Paga and Sandema.

At a workshop held in Tongo in the Talensi district on Tuesday, the acting upper east regional lands officer, Seidu Zakaria said these land secretariats have succeeded in settling several land disputes in their respective areas and called on the general public to seek redress on land issues at the secretariats.
