UMABO elects William Jalulah as President

The Union of May Borns (UMABO) on Sunday, elected its executives to handle the affairs of the union for the next 3 years. The membership of UMABO is mainly made up of people born in the month of May.

Since its establishment in May 2011, UMABO has donated medical essentials to many health facilities in the Upper East region while organizing voluntary blood exercises to restock blood banks in the region.

At the end of the election, the General Manager of A1 Radio, William Nlanjerbor Jalulah, received overwhelming YES votes of all members. what was unique about the election was the introduction of an electronic voting system which allowed members who could not participate in the election physically, to also vote irrespective of wherever they were.

With the exception of the Assistant Organizing Secretary portfolio which was keenly contested by Charles Bugbire and Regina Ayusa, all other positions went unopposed.

Other executives of the union include, Joycelyne Abiire, Vice President, Raymond Adongo General Secretary, Joseph Ayaabillah, Assistant Secretary, James Apaalse Organizing Secretary, Charles Bugbire, Assistant Organizing Secretary, and Patience Affah Treasurer.

After the swearing in of the new executives by Hajj Issa Bukari, the immediate past President of UMABO, Vincent Asigri pledged to continue to work closely with the new executives for the growth of the union.

He said, “On behalf of all outgone executives, I will like to congratulate all the incoming executives and wish them well and ask that we will step aside but we are not leaving UMABO and we are not leaving the ideas that we have, we will be with them, they should get in touch 24/7, we are always available and we will do our part to see how UMABO grows from where it is to the highest heights. Come next year, we’re going to celebrate our tenth anniversary and already; we have begun plans in our meeting today and I hope that anybody who is called upon to play a role or the other, should come out and do a committed work like some of us have been doing all these years and we will see UMABO flourish and shine beyond expectations.”

Speaking on behalf of the new executives, President Jalulah expressed gratitude to members of UMABO for the confidence reposed in them to lead the union.

While urging members to be committed to the union’s activities, Mr. Jalulah further pledged to work with all members for the success of UMABO.

Until his election to the highest position of the union, Mr Jalulah had served as the General Secretary since the formation of UMABO in 2011.
