Member of Parliament (MP) for Builsa South Constituency in the Upper East Region, Dr. Clement Apaak, has prayed for God’s intervention and direction in the current happenings in Ghana over the election 2020 dispute.

He wants God to intervene immediately to restore what he said is the will of the people who took part in the just-ended December polls.

According to Dr. Apaak, it was clear Ghanaians wanted change; and voted for his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC); yet they are being denied of it by the Electoral Commission (EC) by declaring the incumbent Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as President-elect.

His comment follows the recent reports that some 50 minority MPs were blocked at the entrance of the Electoral Commission office on Tuesday 22 December 2020 by security personnel from presenting a petition to the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa.

The resistance by some of the MPs, according to reports, led the security personnel to push some of them to the ground.

Reacting to the situation in an interview with A1 Radio, Dr. Apaak said “Let it be known that no level of abuse and intimidation will stop the determination to rescue Ghana and to restore the will of the people. Akufo-Addo can arrest and beat us up. As long as we remain on this earth, we will not relent.”

He continued that “The will of the people must be restored. We will not disappoint the good people of Ghana. As for the four more years to do more slogan only imply that four more to steal more, four more for more family and friends, four more for state capture, four more for more intolerance, four more for more vindictiveness, four more for more impunity.”

Meanwhile, Tuesday’s confrontation between the minority MPs and the police has sparked controversy among sections of Ghanaians where some took to social media describing the situation as unfortunate and unprofessional on the part of the security personnel; while others described it as the best approach.
