A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Stephen Atubiga, has called on Ghanaian men to see women as pillars of growth and empower them anyhow necessary in society.

According to him, women have the potential to develop society; hence, men should always give their wives the necessary empowerment.

In an interview with A1 Radio, Mr. Atubiga noted that women naturally were created by God to bring more development to society than men as according to him, they have the power to control the universe.

Using his mother as an example, Mr. Atubiga said “My mother never went to school, but she raised a lot of children. I mean she mentored us to the extent that some of us are now doctors, lawyers, teachers, and the rest. You see, if we give women the chance and opportunity, they will help transfer the nation to a higher height.”

Touching on his presidential ambition, Mr. Atubiga who was jailed in 2013 following the 2012 Supreme Court Landmark Petition explained that though the grounds are not presently right for him, he will not give up on such ambition but will continue to strive to greater heights regardless of the obstacles.

He added that every day in his life he usually has the belief and dreams that one day he will lead the the Republic of Ghana; and even if nature does not permit him, he knows that his children or someone will one day use him as case study to venture into politics.

According to him, “Today one can never study law in Ghana without adding two or three words of Stephen Atubiga. Once upon a time, there was contempt or there was an election petition led by one man called Stephen Atubiga. Actually when history is being written about the political atmosphere, whether good or bad,  just as it is happening right now, history will remember me as a man who stood for justice.”
