Elevate Binduri DCE to do more – Binduri NPP youth plead

At a time when some constituents and New Patriotic Party (NPP) members are calling for the removal of some District Chief Executives in the Upper East Region from office, an NPP youth group in the Binduri Constituency, has called for the elevation of their DCE, for his effort at snatching the Binduri Parliamentary seat from the National Democratic Congress.

According to the NPP youth, even though the DCE, Yakubu Ayinga had opposed the MP elect, Abdulai Abanga in the 2011 primaries, he (DCE) decided to ignore their differences and supported the candidate in 2012, as well as the 2020 campaign. The DCE executed projects timely in the constituency and marketed the MP Elect as well as the NPP government, which resulted in the endorsement.

“Our DCE played a key role in snatching the only seat won by the New Patriotic Party in the Upper East Region. With him as the Upper East Regional Minister, the NPP will flip 7 out of the 15 seats in the region, come 2024 general elections.

Hon. Yakubu Ayinga is currently the shining District Chief Executive in the region with his golden MP elect for Binduri, Abdulai Abanga.

Mr. President, the above mentioned two assets spread development projects and programmes across the length and breadth of the Binduri District, irrespective of tribe, religion, gender etc.”

The Binduri Constituency NPP youth, in a statement signed by Amin Anta Jnr. said elevating the Binduri DCE to a higher position to serve the region and the country, will motivate future DCEs to work together with their Parliamentary Candidates to win parliamentary seats for the NPP, instead of the usual ‘pull him down’ and rivalry attitude exhibited by some DCEs in election years.

The Member of Parliament elect, Abdulai Abanga contested for the Binduri seat in the 2012 general elections after he defeated the then NPP Member of Parliament for the constituency, Stephen Yakubu, (now an ambassador) in the party’s primaries.

Abdulai Abanga however lost to the National Democratic Congress’ Ben Noah. In 2016, Abdulai Abanga contested again and lost to National Democratic Congress’ Robert Baba Kuganab-lem.

In 2020, Abdulai Abanga contested with the incumbent member of Parliament, Robert Baba Kuganab-lem and defeated him this time round.

For his effort and being the only NPP Member of Parliament from the region, the Binduri NPP youth have pleaded with President Akufo Addo to make the MP elect a cabinet minister to attract more developmental projects to Binduri.

“This will be a big reward for the people of the Binduri Constituency for selecting Abdulai Abanga to represent the constituency in parliament.”
