As part of measures to contain the spread of Coronavirus in the country, Zoomlion Ghana Ltd in collaboration with the government of Ghana has embarked on a mass disinfection of all public and private educational institutions in the Upper East Region.
Government last year shutdown all schools in the country due to the outbreak of Coronavirus. However, in his State of the nation address on Tuesday January 5, 2021, President Nana Akufo-Addo announced the reopening of all schools. Subsequently, he directed that all educational institutions in the country be disinfected before their reopening.
Speaking to A1 NEWS, Upper East Regional Vector Control Officer of Zoomlion Ghana, Asinvim John Baptist, said all the 7 tertiary institutions in the region have been disinfected while 50 second cycle institutions – public and private and 1,260 basic schools also comprising public and private in the region are also being targeted in the exercise.
According to Mr Asinvim, the company has deployed different teams to all the 15 districts and municipalities in the region and the exercise is being carried out concurrently.
He said, “Zoomlion has employed state-of-the-art equipment to make this exercise a success. So, we are using what we call atomizers, solo machines, knapsacks to get to all surfaces that serve as source of contamination with this virus or source of attraction.”
