A group called ‘Concern Youth for Upper West’ has asked the president, Nana Akufo-Addo not to re-appoint the current Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin salih, in the second term of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

According to the pro-NPP group, “Any attempt to re-appoint Dr. Hafiz to serve even a quarter of a year as Regional Minister of the Upper West will be suicidal and unproductive to the party.”

Despite admitting Dr. Bin Salih is an administrative gem, members of the group said they were not willing “to be managed once again by any individual who lacks good human management skills to continue to eject party faithful whose efforts and sleepless nights have brought the party this stretch.”

The group expressed its concerns in a press statement dated January 7, 2021, signed by its convener.

“It’s extremely imperative to state that among other reasons why Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih deserves not to be re-appointed as the Upper West Regional Minister is his inability to make the party attractive and appealing in the region in general and in particular the very community (jejeirayiri) where he hails.”

“It is also on record, and of public knowledge that the NPP has underperformed in both presidential and parliamentary elections at the Jejeirayiri JHS polling station (P011011) where Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih cast his vote the just ended general elections.” The statement reads.
